Job Description:

Stanbridge University is conducting a search for a qualified faculty member to provide mentorship and instruction to our students in the Physical Therapist Assistant Program. Reporting to the Physical Therapist Assistant Program Director, the faculty member is responsible for providing subject matter expertise and delivering instruction according to an approved course syllabus using accepted and effective teaching methods while promoting student retention and satisfaction. Faculty member is responsible for assessing student performance during the assigned course and documenting all course-related activities within the timelines established by the university.

Essential Functions:

  • Delivers class instruction effectively by utilizing course syllabi and course materials that reflect the level and scope of contemporary knowledge and skills needed for an entry-level PTA.
  • Delivers student-centered instruction by establishing a classroom environment conducive to learning and student involvement while effectively planning and preparing for instruction and student success.
  • Promotes student success by showing flexibility in style as well as exhibiting a passion for teaching and engaging students in the learning process.
  • Assesses student work in a timely fashion and conveys feedback to students.
  • Manages the learning environment by keeping accurate records, submitting grades and other reports on time, and upholding university and program policies.
  • Relates professional/life/industry experience to learning by the continuation of professional/technical skills development, the introduction of industry perspective into courses, and the active awareness of professional/industry trends and opportunities.
  • Collaborates with program faculty and program administration to ensure course outcomes, and program and student goals are being met.


  • Be a licensed PTA or PT in the State of California in good standing.
  • Have an Associate degree as a PTA or professional degree as a PT.
  • Have four (4) or more years of clinical experience in the field of physical therapy as a PTA or PT.
  • Have strong communication, organization, interpersonal, problem-solving, and advising skills.
  • Be knowledgeable in the use of Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and other computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Have one year of teaching experience in an academic setting.
  • Be a member of Association of the American Physical Therapy (APTA).
