Before you get started, read below about prerequisites, credit transfers and the application process itself. Applications are accepted on an open enrollment basis.

  1. Prior to applying to Stanbridge University, please contact our Admissions office at 888-789-6208 or contact us here. Our Admissions Representatives will guide you through confirming your prerequisites and application.
  2. Admission to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Online Degree Completion) program at Stanbridge University begins with having both a current RN licensure from the state in which you practice and associate’s degree (Associate of Arts or Associate of Science) program from an accredited institution. Your Admissions Representative will ask you to send official transcripts from all universities or colleges and post-secondary educational institutions (including trade schools) attended prior to Stanbridge University (attention: Registrar). Please read the current Stanbridge University Catalog for more information.
  3. We also recommend you take the Online Learning Readiness Quiz to ensure that online learning is a good fit for you.
  4. Start filling out your online application form.
  5. If accepted, complete all remaining Admissions & Financial Aid Processes.
  6. Submit transfer of credit request by 14th day from acceptance date.
  7. Complete financial aid process, if eligible, by 14th day before class start.

PROGRAM DURATION1

The program is 180 quarter credit hours and takes approximately 23-24 months to complete, including federal holidays and any breaks between terms.* Completion times vary depending upon the start and end dates of a cohort and any individual circumstances that may impact progression.

*Note: Completion of the 90 total quarter hours of credit, when added to the 90 quarter hours of transferred credit from the required Associate’s Degree, will total the 180 quarters hours of credit required for a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. Missions & Goals

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Degree Completion) program develops the resources and knowledge of registered nurses as they transition into the professional nursing role. The program provides innovative, theoretical, and evidence-based education and incorporates knowledge from related disciplines. These experiences are facilitated by the acquisition of knowledge, critical thinking, and expertise in each nursing course. The goal of the program is to prepare graduates for positions where they will provide quality health care in diverse settings as well as leadership and education for patients, families, other staff members and the healthcare organization.

Program Goals

During the Bachelor of Science program, the student will:

  1. Utilize prior learning as a foundation for acquisition and application of knowledge during the nursing program.
  2. Demonstrate the ability to apply theoretical and evidence-based practice models in research and practice applications.
  3. Identify and apply leadership, quality improvement, and patient safety principles during patient care and management situations.
  4. Develop the ability to integrate information management and patient care technology in patient care.
  5. Describe and formulate professional communication and collaboration in order to improve patient health outcomes.
  6. Describe and apply health promotion, injury, and disease prevention concepts across the lifespan and in the community.
  7. Define, develop, and understand the role and professionalism of the nurse in baccalaureate nursing practice, including professional values, leadership, management, and evidence-based patient care.

Program Outcomes

The program will assist students and faculty to:

  1. Analyze the concepts of risk management and HIPAA in relation to critical thinking, decision-making, and problem solving.
  2. Describe the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and communication in leadership roles.
  3. Describe how communication can influence healthcare policy and shape perceptions related to health issues.
  4. Analyze the importance of health promotion and its impact on patients, families and the community.
  5. Analyze the issues surrounding provision of care, treatment, and services requiring decision-making skills using evidence-based practice.
  6. Identify and discuss the application of ethical principles as it relates to the professional practice of nursing.
  7. Identify key elements of successful diversity management, and culturally and linguistically appropriate care, based on research and evidence-based practice.
  8. Identify and describe the need for health promotion, health informatics, effective communication and cultural awareness in patient care.
